Troop 889 is gearing up for another amazing season of selling Christmas Trees and Wreaths to our community.
First day of sales will be November 19, 2023 and we will sell until the last tree is gone or December 17th (whichever happens first). Last year we sold out in 3 weeks!
Looking for tall trees? We will have a very limited supply of 10′ ,12′ and 14′ trees this year. Come early for the best selection.
Explore a World War II submarine – an icon of Wisconsin’s shipbuilding heritage!
This trip runs Nov 7-8, 2015. We will meet at WSC at 2pm on the Saturday, and travel to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
We will have dinner at the Pizza Ranch, experience an educational tour, and sleep overnight on the submarine. In the morning, we will visit the maritime museum and head home.
The cost per person (scouts and adults) is $55, which covers dinner, the sub experience, and museum admission.
Class A shirts will be worn on the drive to & from the sub. On the sub, there are close quarters and grease stains are a possibility so you may want to bring a change of clothes.
Sunday morning breakfast and souvenir shopping are ‘on your own’ so you may need appropriate pocket money.
Space is limited: sign-up is due by September 20.
Refer to email communication for sign-up form, or contact Todd Pistolis or Bill Glase for more details.
The annual Gathering of Eagles was held on Friday, 2/20/2015 at the Sheraton Hotel in Lisle. This annual event honors all Scouts from Three Fires Council who earned their Eagle rank in 2014. In 2014, there were 350 Eagle Scouts. Troop 889 had 7: Luke Schander, Josh Cinnamon, Michael Crawley, Alex Smerz, Alex Kierstead, Marc Berkowicz and Sam Walker. Luke and Marc, along with their families, attended the event.
All Eagles in attendance were recognized at this event. There were 2 Eagles at the banquet who earned their Eagle rank prior to 1935 – with the oldest having earned his Eagle rank in 1931! Once an Eagle, ALWAYS an Eagle!
Marc was selected from an number of audtioned Scouts to deliver the invocation.
All Eagles in attendance crossed the stage to introduce themselve and their units.
Denny Wowra, former Scoutmaster from Troop 889 and dedicated Scouter for over 37 years was honored to have the 2014 Eagle Class named in his honor.
Congratulations to the Class of 2014 Eagles and to Denny Wowra!
Josh Cinnamon, Troop 889’s 96th Eagle Scout was honored at his Eagle Court of Honor, which took place on Sunday, January 4. Josh’s parents, Shelly and Tom were also honored.
Josh passed his Eagle Board of Review on July 23, 2014, just before his 18th birthday.
Former Scoutmaster Vince Massey was the keynote speaker. Gary Wilberg, Eagle Scout and counselor for the troop, administered the Eagle charge for a large number of current and former Eagle Scouts in attendance.
Josh was also presented with a flag that was flown over the US Capitol.
Fellow Scouts from Troop 889, as well as friends and family of Josh also attended the event.
